Registration and insurance details for Australia
Any person that has a current drivers license may purchase a car anywhere in Australia. All Backpackers should be aware that all vehicles need to be registered before you can drive on any Australian main road. The cost per state differs for 4 and 6 cylinder vehicles. Please be advised when purchasing a car that this vehicle needs to have a safety certificate and a Road worthy. These can be obtained from any licensed agent.
Nikor World can handle all this for you. The registration amount (payable to Main
Roads Department) has a compulsory third party insurance component. This part
only covers the driver for any injuries caused to another person, i.e. death
etc. This does not cover any damage you cause to another motorcar or property.
Full Comprehensive Insurance is the only cover that will pay for all damages caused by you, including your own. If your vehicle is a late model it will pay you to take this cover. However be warned it is expensive. Third Party Property Damage Insurance is recommended as this will cover you for any damages you cause to someone else’s car, or property. Most Backpackers cars cost around $250 to insure and this is for a 12 Month period. Please be advised that Nikor World accepts no responsibility for any of the above information and strongly recommends you contact our representative in Australia for further information.
Nikor World can organize all your insurance and registration requirements.
